Background

Like everybody else, I’m a huge fan of traveling. I have set foot in all kinds of places—major cities, small towns, as well as nature like the national parks. It was a pleasure to experience different cultures and relax, but it was not always fun to make plans before each trip. I have always hoped there is a tool that can help me make decisions, give me the option to browse, and allow me to plan things out. When the opportunity came for me to design a product, this was the first thing that came to mind. Now enjoy Resfeber.

User Research

I conducted interviews to understand users' pain points and frustrations while planning their trips.

User Research

The two main genres of my competitors focus on itinerary generation and social platforms. Resfeber aims to go above and beyond, to combine multiple features and upgrade them to another level.

Business Model

User Persona

Different personas with various traveling experiences can all benefit from this app for their purposes.

Design Direction

So how can we help travelers plan their itinerary faster, easier, and more engaging?

-Provide a one-stop shopping experience for making itineraries.

The main issue to tackle when solving the users’ problems was to figure out the best way to present a large amount of information and keep the interfaces clean and logical.

Revisions & Decisions

Unexpected user reaction facilitates iterations

The design changes I made after interviewing the users and finding their behavior patterns made it easier for them to navigate.

Style Guide

Competitor

Color: Resfeber is a simple, friendly, and authentic brand. To differentiate it from the current competitors and respond to opportunity spaces, I’m going to use a combination of lighter tones for the colors.

Typography: Resfeber aims to be a timeless brand. Its spaces in type lie in a clean sans-serif area. In order to make an impact, choosing a bolder font for the logo is more effective; with the combination of lighter font weights.

Imagery: Resfeber provides much information about the destinations, so we can’t avoid using many lifestyle photos, but we can incorporate illustrations to take advantage of other competitors.

Informational Architecture

User Testing

Getting feedback from potential users is an important step in further developing my idea.

Goal

-Uncover users’ unmet needs and identify opportunity spaces.
-Understand pain points while planning trips.
-Get feedback and validation on the current concept & key features.
-Understand users' friction with using Resfeber.

Process

1. Conduct qualitative interviews with 10+ people.
2. Feature ranking.
3. Get feedback and improvements on features to better solve problems they are facing currently.

Reflections

It was the first time I created a startup project individually. I had the opportunity to think of a creative solution for a problem I am interested in. It gives me space and flexibility to explore design options and user interactions. Qualitative user interviews gave me a great range of insights into how different users think and opened up other feature possibilities.

In terms of design, attention to detail is crucial to ensuring the quality of the final product. It involves paying close attention to every layout and functionality, creating a seamless and polished user experience. I realized how micro-interactions could make such a huge difference in user engagement. I've gained a holistic view of end-to-end experience and digital product strategies.
